Timeless Fashion Style Tips

Every season, it seems like there are a whole new load of fashion "rules" and "trends" for us all to follow. This year this is in, next year it will be out. It can be overwhelming to keep up with (not to mention expensive) and may also prevent you from finding your personal style.
But professional models know that one way to cut through the fashion noise is to balance taking risks with proven techniques. If you are looking to maintain a closet that will stand firm with the tides of trends that come and go, here are five style tips that never go out of fashion.
1. Dress for your shape and your style.
No matter what the current trends are in every shop window, it is vital that you dress for your own shape and your style. Think about what cuts and materials make you feel good in your body. After all, your clothes should work for you; you shouldn't be working for your clothes.
Make sure to always try on clothes before purchasing because how they sit on the mannequins may not be how they sit on you. If you have particular parts of your body that you like to accentuate, look for pieces that assist you in that regard. And don't buy things that make you feel uncomfortable, just because everyone else is wearing them.
That being said, while there are various "rules" about what petite girls, curvy girls, light-skinned girls, etc. should and shouldn't wear, you should dress in the clothes and styles that you feel the most "you" in.
Don't just follow trends, and certainly don't listen to those who aim to dictate what you should and shouldn't be wearing.
2. Confidence and smiles are free accessories.
Of course, we would all love to have the latest Chanel on our arm, but there are two accessories that never go out of style and won't make a dent in your rent money. They are, of course, the supermodel’s best weapons: confidence and a smile.
Your mother has probably been telling this to you for years, and there is a reason that it is a cliché — it is true!
Finishing off an outfit with a big smile and a healthy dose of confidence will never go out of style. That is why it is crucial that you dress in pieces that make you happy. If you only follow "trends" but end up feeling uncomfortable in the outfits, you aren't going to look stylish. Instead, find the combinations that work for you and create your own signature outfits.

3. A little black dress will rescue you in most situations.
If it is good enough for Audrey Hepburn, you know that it is a style that will never go out of fashion. A little black dress (LBD) is a crucial part of every woman's wardrobe.
So, when you come across one that makes you feel like a goddess, keep it in your arsenal. It will come to your rescue in a variety of situations when you don't know what to wear. You can wear your LBD to a multitude of occasions, needing simply to accessorize it with different shoes, purses and jewelry to keep it feeling fresh.
You can find LBDs in all stores, from the high-street shops to luxury designers, so they are accessible for all buyers no matter your budget.

4. Become friends with your seamstress.
Take it from runway and Fashion Week veterans: once you find a talented seamstress, you never want to let her go. Altering your clothes to fit you perfectly is a surefire way of looking chic and sophisticated, no matter how much of a bargain your outfit was originally.
Whether your pants need to be hemmed, the shoulders of a blazer need to be taken in, or the straps on your dress need to be shortened, an alteration is a frequent necessity for clothes.
In fact, a budget hack is to purchase clothes from cheaper, high-street stores and then get them tailored. You will be looking like a million dollars without having the credit card debt to go along with it.
5. A good fitting pair of jeans will never let you down.
By now, denim jeans are a staple of fashion, and they are never going to go away. Over the years, designers, celebrities, fashion it-girls and models have worn denim in a variety of ways, but the material itself has never been un-cool.
Whether you like your denim high-waisted, skinny, embellished, ripped, light-washed, black, or something else, you will be able to find the ones for you on the market.
Now, it is entirely appropriate to wear denim to most events and occasions. Dress your jeans down during the day with sneakers, sandals or ankle boots. And then elevate them at night with a fierce pair of heels.
