Sabyasachi Mukherjee was born on 23rd February 1974 in middle class Bengali family in India. Sabyasachi’s mother served, Sondhya Mukherjee, worked at Government art college. She has passion for Handicrafts.
When Sabyasachi was 15 years old, his father lost his job, and financing the study was a difficult road.
When he revealed his interest in designing dresses, his parents could not understand that and denied to pay for his education, since they desired him to be an engineer.
Sabyasachi then exchanged all his books and paid for his training while he pursued a degree at one of India’s most prestigious fashion institutions, NIFT.

In 2001, he competed in the Femina British Council’s annual meeting and won honor as Excellent Young Designer of India. This further motivated him to obtain a great recognition in India and international fashion world. Following his award victory, he was chosen for an internship with Georgina Von Etzdorf, one of the most famous designers in the international fashion line. Following the internship which continued for a few months, Sabyasachi got back to India and began working with India’s leading fashion labels as a designer.
In 2002, he debuted in Indian mainstream fashion business with India Fashion Week, where he impersonated some of his ideas that got a strong evaluative reaction. The best models in the competition wore his designer clothes and it was a powerful mainstream start for Sabyasachi. It was also another important step in the way of becoming one of the most prosperous celebrity fashion designers of India.
In 2008, Sabyasachi colluded with GAJA brand and launched a jewelry line and the stock was further showcased in Vogue Wedding Show 2016 and earned major significant acclaim.
In 2012, Sabyasachi’s stock closed the PCJ Delhi Couture Week endured in the national capital of India. There he showcased his latest collection called ‘New Moon’, which highlighted five separate world cities as its subject. The late Bollywood Diva Sridevi was the showstopper for the show and showcased the sari created by him.
At the 2015 Amazon India Couture Week, Sabyasachi collaborated with a French artist to impersonate a collection of footwear, which became the trademark Sabyasachi embroidery on them.
